Mrs. Grant from Heidelberg MS is requesting musical instruments through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students Orff xylophones so we can continue music safely.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My talented students come from a rural, Title I school with very poor socio-economic status. 100% of my students qualify for the free lunch program. They are always so excited to come to music class to learn new songs, skills, and concepts. Anytime that I challenge them, they always rise to the occasion, in spite of any obstacles.
Please help my students get the essential music classroom instruments they need in order to be their best musical selves and to enhance their performances and learning!
Many of the songs we are learning in music class now require Orff instruments, such as soprano and alto xylophones. These instruments can be very expensive, costing hundreds, even thousands of dollars. Because we do not have enough of those instruments in our classroom, all of my students cannot fully experience music class during this difficult time.
These xylophones will give our music class the basic instrumentation needed to safely perform the songs we are learning in class.
The xylophones will enhance their learning in music class. With music having so little funding and my students not coming from a background that can afford to take private lessons, music class is their only means of emotional release during this stressful time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
My students are very excited about the possibility of being able to continue music safely. Thank you for making that possibility a reality!
