Have you ever loved a book so much that you wanted to tell the world about it? Have you ever wanted to show off your reading knowledge? Do you thrive with an opportunity for a friendly competition? I would love to give the students at my school the opportunity to participate in the Oregon Battle of the Books!
Our classrooms are filled with hard workers and lovers of learning.
Their brains are ready to soak up any knowledge that comes their way. Many have a love of reading and I'd like them to have the opportunity to show off their skills.
My Project
I look for every opportunity to introduce students to new books and to encourage them to pick up a title they might not typically go for. I would like to get copies of the books that have been nominated for the 2019-2020 Oregon Battle of the Books in my students' hands. Not only will they be introduced to books they haven't read, but by reading these titles they will also be able to participate in a battle to take place next spring.
It is no secret that the path to becoming a better reader is to practice reading.
I'd like to get my students excited about reading and give them an opportunity to participate in a fun, interactive reading competition.
Not only will my students be gaining reading practice, they will also be introduced to new materials and have the chance to show off their reading skills in a friendly competition. It is my hope that this serves as a great motivator, for reading lovers and reluctant readers alike!
