Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are an amazing, vibrant collection of enthusiastic artists in a Title I, inner-city, coastal Connecticut community where 100% of our students receive free lunch and there never seems to be an end to other urgent needs.
We welcome many immigrants and transient families to our community and engage students as they navigate every kind of emotional and social challenge that you can imagine.
Economic need is high, but creative passion is even higher! Please help our creative and talented students touch the wonderful materials they need to thrive and explore.
My Project
We have the great fortune to play in an old home economics room with our K-2 classes. There is a U-shaped counter and a real (disabled) oven for the children to "cook" in. Our wooden food and plastic utensil supplies get very heavily used and now need replenishing. Students LOVE the social play of creating pretend meals, acting out family stories in the kitchen, and playing restaurant. Wood and thick plastic are the most durable materials available for replacement. There are hundreds of eager hands waiting to imagine, build, and serve with these exciting toys. May we take your order?
