I teach 4th grade in a rural western North Carolina School. This year has been a great start but I have realized that I need more class sets of chapter books for book clubs that we are starting. I borrowed this idea from "Oprah" because she has book discussions about literature similar to what we do in school with the Paideia seminars. First, as the teacher, I will divide the students into reading groups. With my guidance, we will select a book per group and decide each day how many pages we will read that night. The next day, the groups will meet again and discuss their pages that were read that night. Each group will conduct a reading seminar, similar to Oprah's book club or Literature circles. Every day we will have a set number of pages to read and discuss those pages with the teacher's guidance the next day. What I need is books sets of different titles for our reading groups. I have a few sets but not enough to continue my book talks. Please help me fund my Oprah's reading circles.
