This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are my "rays of sunshine!", as I call them. Rain or shine, as soon as my students enter my room and I'm not at the door, they say my name and look for me. They remind me of my duty, of why I became a teacher. My second graders teach me every day that education is so important and that if there is no one to lead them, with a little fun, then we will be at our wits end. My students are not perfect and each leads a different life but when we come together, we are a big family no matter what house we belong in and we are ready to show our leadership skills to help our friends. (We have a house system at our school.)
Given the opportunity to succeed, my students will believe and have faith in their abilities.
My Project
" Educational technology in the classroom is a very powerful tool for educators. It's also a great way to create effective learning opportunities in the classroom." While I was in college, I told myself that I was going to stick to a more "traditional" way of teaching and not include technology. Boy, was I wrong! When I worked my first teaching job, I realized how impactful technology has become in the past years in the classroom and even in the outside world.
As a first year second grade teacher, I realized how much more my students need a visual and how many different types of learners there are in my room.
This project will allow my students to show their thinking and to allow themselves to "teach" their peers. My goal is to use this opportunity to build my student's confidence, as well as for them to be proud of their work. This will allow them to display their work on the board for their peers to look at, as well as to feel "professional" when they are presenting their work.
