Professional development is continuously on going for a teacher. The new common core standards must be implemented into the curriculum to ensure that all students, including those with special needs, can master the standards.
I am a special needs teacher.
I collaborate with teachers daily to ensure the special needs population master these new standards. The students I work with are very bright and eager to learn. I want to provide them with every opportunity possible so they will be successful. The area of growth for me is to identify strategies which would be gained through professional development to meet their diverse needs.
My Project
The materials I am requesting is a project and adapter that would be used with a SmartBoard and iPad to explore SimpleK12, a professional development website that offers webinars and tutorials in different areas of teaching to help prepare myself and other teachers in implementing the common core standards. The speaker will ensure that all teachers participating in the webinars can hear. I am also requesting ink that would be used to print certificates of completion once the training has been successful. Also, I am requesting a Apple TV to be used as a mirroring device. I will be able to project my iPad screen on to share information and activities with others at staff at our meetings.
The projector , Apple TV, and other materials would help meet the needs and challenges I have as a teacher.
We must all work together to ensure all students, including those with special needs, can master the standards. Supporting this project will give me the tools to better prepare myself and other teachers in implementing the common core standards.
