My Students

I am a brand new media specialist in an inner city school. It's been great finding awesome books for my eager middle school students. I want my library to be one of the most positive, joyful and equitable places in the school. In order for me to do that, I am striving to find books that are nearly universally popular across every population of student no matter what race, religion, or economic background.

I'm constantly striving to find books that allow my students to experience characters that look like them or show them a different perspective.

My Project

I am a firm believer in the power of books to build empathy and create more compassion in this world. Fantasy series are a great way for students to see different perspectives and/or themselves through books.

My Project

So many of my students are requesting the latest and greatest in YA fantasy series. Because of the pandemic, many of my fantasy series are not as current as I'd like them to be. I cannot believe how enthusiastic our students are to finally hold a real book in their hands after returning from distance learning. I have a lot of students who are eager for the next book in the series they are reading. I cannot wait to give them more options!
