Help me give my students an opportunity to develop their emotional self-regulation skills through flexible seating and sensory tools with the use of wobble chairs, bean bags, and sensory objects.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are amazing. They are caring, excited, strong, and begging for approval. They come to school each day after facing many struggles in their home lives.
Each student brings an individual story to our group.
My students struggle with emotional regulation and behavior. They not only have the struggle of coming from difficult life situations, but they also struggle with emotional disturbance. Throughout the day the students experience the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. They need extra support and love in order to be successful in the school setting.
Together we are a family who are working each day to improve ourselves and those around us.
My Project
These materials that I have carefully chosen will give my students the opportunities to develop emotional regulation. They will be able to be successful in our classroom because they will be able to use the flexible seating as legitimate movement. Many students struggle with ADHD on top of emotional disturbance and are in constant movement. The wobble chairs give them the chance to move and continue working.
These small children deal with big emotions.
Sometimes they need the opportunity to step back, take a break, and return to feeling safe and secure before they can work. The materials that I am asking for will give them the tools they need to be able to do that.
