My students need contact paper, bulletin board paper, lighting, and decor.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students come from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. Despite language barriers and experiences, they are always ready to learn and to broaden their skill sets. We are a tiny school in an urban area, where it's often difficult to find funding for the things that will really take our students' learning to new heights.
Our community wants to see our students learn and grow and to give them as many opportunities as possible to gain new experiences to explore science and technology and to truly develop twenty-first-century skills.
Our district is rolling out new STEAM classrooms over the next three years. In the fall, I will begin my new role as a K-5 STEAM teacher. This means a new school, new classroom, new curriculum, and new students. I am incredibly excited about helping to pioneer this new program and creating a truly exceptional experience for my students.
I want my students to walk into my classroom and have an experience each and every time.
I'll be creating hands-on engaging lessons that promote problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. In addition to creating these amazing learning activities, I also want to transform an ordinary classroom into an inspirational space. By using more neutral colors to cover the bulletin boards and empty spaces with the brick, and wood contact and bulletin board paper, the classroom will be transformed into a warm, thematic, and inspirational space. The table lamps will allow soft lighting instead of the harsh fluorescent lights in the classroom, and keep with the overall theme of the Steampunk design. Softer lighting provides a more calming environment where students will be able to stay more focused and on-task.
Creating an environment that is art and industry inspired will truly give students the feeling of a real "maker's space." The neutral colors and metals will help to create a warm space for students in all grade levels. Often times, classrooms are "bright and cheery," and can be overstimulating to students. Using a more neutral theme is more conducive for student learning and focus.
