Our school, a 9-12 urban charter school, was created in 1957 in response to the Cold War fear that Americans would be outrun by the Russians in the STEM fields. Our school is considered a math and science school but shines equally in the arts and humanities. We are working hard to continue to define our school's role in our modern world, and our students take that challenge very seriously.
Our school, one of the most unique in the state, has a 63% minority population, and we recruit our students from 94 different middle schools in the region.
Furthermore, 33% of our student body qualifies for free/reduced-price lunch. Combine this with our number of National Merit Scholars (23 this year) and our impressive college acceptance rate, it is clear that our school is a unique study in accomplishing amazing things with a most diverse population and with ever-shrinking resources.
Our school is big on leadership skills. Indeed, it is not enough in this world to be smart. We need smart people who can lead. We have a student council and a student leadership team to oversee big projects at school and outside of school as well.
My Project
We have a lot of students who are economically challenged and come to school with an empty stomach. Similarly, we have young ladies who are not yet accustomed to preparing for their feminine needs.
Students know to come to me when they are in need, as I keep snacks and hygiene products available for them.
As I need to control (somewhat) the delivery of these supplies, I need a dedicated cabinet that can lock.
I chose a cabinet that is affordable, strong and can fit the purpose of containing both snacks and supplies safely.
We are grateful for your consideration of our request. Thank you!
