Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our College Preparatory environment is wrapped around a Social Justice theme that is integrated into the rigorous curriculum and instruction experience. Our school also requires that the students Complete a social justice project prior to graduating.

My school is located within a community that has many daily challenges.

There is high rate of crime and poverty. Despite this our students come in with a focus on learning and fighting poverty with education.

Our students are graduating during a time of uncertainty and we want to show them we care about them and ll that they have accomplished.They work to out run their circumstances everyday. We also teach them to advocate for others by being change agents in their community. I look forward to the smiles on their faces when they receive these graduation boxes.

My Project

Every college student needs a laundry basket and essentials to start their year off. We are creating care baskets for our students with towels, sheets and blankets and goodies to let them know we are proud of them.

We are looking forward to seeing the reactions of our students as they open their baskets left on their door steps. We want them to know that their journey is not over. In fact is has just begun and we want to help our seniors and their families send them off to college with a little gift from us.
