Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my room need art supplies to use as a creative outlet across the curriculum. Our school does not have an art program and I strongly feel art is essential to growing and expanding their imaginations!

We are at a Title 1 school in an impoverished area.

Most of my students come from low income almost non-existent families and are transient which is heartbreaking for me. I have tried my personal best to make our classroom bright, interactive and inviting to give them those experiences that they lack from home. While our school tries its best to provide students with what they need, they recently cut the art program and it is now non-existent in our school. This is why I feel so strongly and am reaching out for the donation of these art supplies which I simply cannot afford to provide all the students with.

My Project

We plan to use the art supply materials across the whole curriculum. When reading a story we can draw or create what they imagine or see in their head. They can make their own stories and illustrate them. We can learn about the holidays around the world by interacting and making things to represent other cultures! Supplies that I am requesting include paint, paintbrushes, paper, crayons, markers, pipe cleaners, beads, googly eye, clothespins, paper cutter, gems, feathers, craft sticks, glitter, and pom poms. Being as these students are only in 2nd grade, some of them have never had the experience of getting to actually create and generate art and this is an experience they deserve!

These art supplies could make a huge difference in my students' lives as it will grow and expand their imaginations!

Many of my students have no access to art supplies at all and it would be rewarding for me to give them this experience and outlet!
