We are the 2nd grade team in a Title 1 school with 96% of our students qualifying as economically disadvantaged. The students make up a diverse population, including those with special needs and other learning English as their second language. We work with an excited group of young learners who love to learn especially when technology is involved. Our classroom setting and population makes the need for technology vital for students' learning. Our 2nd grade students need 3 ipad minis per class with cases for use as listening centers and as intervention tools with specific literacy and math apps.
Our project will provide support and structure to students that need multiple avenues of retaining information. This exposure to technology opens young minds to all the possibilities of learning in different ways. Our project will also model fluent reading skills as well as provide extra independent practice to build stamina for our scholars. Our project will assist in math as additional support for those students in need of intervention. This project will support our mission to prepare all students for success in college and a life of opportunity and choice by developing their lifelong passions, academic skills, and personal character.
