My Students
I am anticipating having another great year with eager 4th graders who have an enthusiasm for learning. Fourth graders always amaze me with their drive and eagerness to learn new skills and strategies and apply them to classroom tasks. Through interactive read alouds, teacher modeling, collaboration with peers, and opportunities for independent practice of skills, these students grow throughout the year in mastering the curriculum. When my students walk into the room, they are always greeted with a smile and the anticipation for success! I know this project will serve them well as they strengthen their skills in reading and writing.
My Project
The rug currently in my room was a hand-me-down, and it can fit about 10 students comfortably. Being at the rug is an important part of my daily instruction because it encourages active listening and participation from my students. I have used carpet squares this past year to accommodate all the students to sit comfortably; however, this process can impede on the flow and instruction time when students are transitioning for their whole group lesson or when transitioning back to their reading/writing spots to practice the skills taught. A new, colorful rug will add to the classroom in a great way!
