Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At our school we do the 80/20 model. Students are in centers for the majority of the day while I am pulling small groups for intensive instruction. I am always looking for things that can increase their engagement in centers and make them more excited about learning!
Our school serves about 1200 students.
Most of these students come from low income families. Many live in apartments with multiple families and have very little access to technology. Any time they see technology and have the opportunity to use it, they appreciate it.
My Project
I want to place the iPad mini in a different center each day. Not only can these students use it to look up information, they will be able to use it to play review games about the particular standard. My students will be instantly engaged and even more excited to come to school when they get their chance to use the iPad. Anytime the students get to use technology, they learn more because they have so much fun while they are doing it.
Children at my school have very little.
I want them to ultimately have exposure to fun experiences especially in my classroom while they are learning. I know that having the iPad in my classroom will be the biggest and most exciting learning tool for my students.
