My students need a tablet to help their learning grow though technology in all contents areas. They also need the protective case to ensure it is well preserved.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As the technology years race ahead, my students are left behind. Most only know the laptops in the school computer lab which they visit only once a week for 30 minutes. They are left wanting more.
My students come from low socioeconomic circumstances in a high poverty inner city school.
Most of my students don't have computers at home, let alone Internet access. They have hard working, supportive families who go above and beyond for their children. I've had the privilege of continuing with my students to the 3rd grade. My students are exceptionally smart. In the 2nd grade 19 of my 23 students scored proficient and/or advanced on the standardized test for math and language arts. I try to instill goals of becoming doctors, teachers, judges and leaders. Technology opens these doors.
My Project
My goal is to have a tablet in the classroom for students to work on their research projects. Also, access to a tablet will motivate reading and math on the great web site resources that are available for the students. Currently, I have one computer and my students have to share. My students can have a turn accessing the sites with educational programs such as reading, writing, vocabulary, math, science, social studies and more. Having interactive lessons and activities is my goal. My students will be able to increase their learning by watching videos of Martin Luther King, Jr's "I Have a Dream" speech or searching for live footage of the first man on the moon. Imagine their faces as they access a video clip, receive an e-mail from a child in South America or search for images of planets. My students will become self-directed learners and grow intellectually.
Help our students have a chance and avoid becoming obsolete with minimum technology skills.
Give them a glimpse at the world through technology. It is important that the children get opportunities to interact with modern technology.
