Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In so many ways we have witnessed how our students are stepping up their games during our unplanned Distance Learning adventure. What a great job everyone!
Our students deserve something special that can be relevant and appreciated now, memorialized, and used in our classes when we return to our schools.
I would like to bring to them on my solo "field trip" adventures in our beautiful "Ocean State."
Through careful observance of strict social distancing rules, I can go in to isolated areas seldom seen by our students. I will record and narrate these experiences, and proudly showcase the natural beauty of Rhode Island.
These brief video stories can be shared with many classes in our online environment, When we go back to our school building, we'll be able to use this equipment to create oral history interviews, school newscasts, or other student led projects.
My Project
Our kids have such great imagination! I want to broaden their horizons and imaginations through virtual touring. With this economical and sturdy camera I will be able to take students on my virtual solo field trips to beautiful places in our city and our state.
From the Roger Williams statue at Prospect Park, to the state capitol building and beyond, I can share a close up tours of our city of Providence.
We can explore some of our older neighborhoods, including the historic Broadway/West End neighborhood, and of course Smith and Federal Hills.
When we are back in our building we can explore and share the stories of our neighborhoods. What a great way to learn about where we live!
