I teach in a small town in rural North Dakota. I believe in the active minds of the young kindergarteners in my class. They learn best when they're involved in the classroom and can explore through a variety of mediums.
Children need to play, be read to; they need to smile and laugh.
When we provide these opportunities to our children, we are opening a world of learning for them to explore. A goal of mine is to help children become independent, creative, and socially aware.
My Project
I am looking to provide a larger variety of options for my students to explore when they are playing in our classroom. I feel they should have choices and this is a great way for five and six year olds to begin making responsible choices.
Children learn through play and build social-emotional skills while interacting with their peers.
Learning to share, taking turns, and using a creative mind develops with free play. I would like to provide my students with a variety of hands-on building materials, games, and puzzles to use at indoor recess and free play. These items will tie into the themes that we explore throughout our yearly lessons.
