These students are miraculous. They are returning dropouts or those who are so credit deficient that they will most likely drop out once they realize graduation may not be possible. The amount of trauma most of these students have endured make it an amazing feat for them to come to school every week. Most are living in poverty, and several are homeless. Their basic needs are not getting met regularly. Yet here they are, at school.
Imagine the weight of the world on your shoulders and seemingly no one is there to help.
They are fighting to earn a diploma so they can change their family tree. Hunger is an every day issue. I want to supply food to these students so that at the very least, that basic need is no longer a barrier to a better future.
My Project
We work with returning high school dropouts and those that are severely credit deficient. One of the barriers they face is hunger due to a myriad of reasons. You cannot learn if you are worried about not having food.
We want to supply snacks for these students so that hunger is not a barrier to their success.
We have over 100 students currently and paying out of our own pockets is taking its toll. Please help these students by supplying quality snacks for them to eat while they are in school. I have chosen some healthy and some popular snacks that will at least give them the energy to work while they are with us.
