I teach in a low-income rural school, and my students come from extremely diverse backgrounds. While this is sometimes challenging, it ultimately makes for a richer learning experience. I'd like to be able to provide a place for them to be creative and explore rather than just a place to bide their time.
I'd love to show them the learning experience that they so deeply deserve.
There are so many things that they haven't seen and so many things that they would love to do, and I would love to be able to provide them a strong and solid foundation on which to build their future.
My Project
One of the most common things we hear from our students is that they hate to read. For most of them, it's more about ability than interest. In order to build those skills, I'd like to grow my classroom library.
Our kids struggle with literacy, and it's something that we absolutely have to address as educators.
One of the ways I'd like to do that is to build my classroom library so that students have a diverse selection of books to choose from, with representation for all within the pages. Help me show my students all of the worlds that are available to us when we open a book. Donate today!
