Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am beyond excited and lucky to see the growth I've seen in my students since August. It's been a hectic year with many events interrupting my students' learning time, but it has not hindered them a bit. They are soaking up knowledge and reaching their goals.
This year, my students are writers which is any 4th grade teacher's dream.
My students are anxious to share their ideas. They have a great desire to read and write better. They are goal setters and goal reachers. Each day, they bring their best and and work their hardest.
My Project
Teaching through picture books and non-fiction magazines has been so rewarding for both my students and myself this year. We enjoy gathering on the carpet, learning the habits of a good reader, making connections with small turn-and-talk sessions, and they look forward to ending with a writing connection or product activity based on the book.
Using picture books in the classroom opens the minds of my students to teach them empathy and understanding of the world around them.
The books and TIME For Kids subscription I am requesting are the key pieces to building lessons that pull my students in and keeping them engaged till the next book is opened.
