My Students

My school is in the rural community of Pennsylvania. Class sizes are usually around twenty to twenty-five students.

In science, students enjoy participating in hands on experiments and learning opportunities.

Starting in 3rd grade, grade levels are departmentalized so students have science class every day!

My Project

Mystery Science provides ready-made science mysteries for elementary school students. Each lesson contains a central mystery, discussion questions, supplemental reading, and a hands-on activity. This project will fund my entire school district's elementary teachers. 8 classes at each grade level of grades K-5 would be 48 classes worth of students.

Mystery Science takes advantage of the curiosity kids have about the world around them.

It provides online science lessons, anchored by entertaining, kid-friendly videos. Mystery Science has created grade-level guides that show you how to make each lesson work right now, whether you are teaching online, or in a socially distanced classroom.

The journey begins with a video that sets up the mystery. Teachers then guide students through a discussion where the kids try to figure out the answer for themselves. A series of recorded observations gives students clues. The lesson ends in a hands-on activity where students are conducting an experiment or building a model in order to solve the mystery for themselves.
