Mrs. Tussey from Jacksonville FL is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a laminating machine and pouches.

"Oops! It was an accident!" is something I often hear my first graders say when they have ripped or destroyed classroom materials I created. It isn't their fault. Oftentimes, the materials just aren't durable enough to withstand 16 pairs of little hands. Laminating these materials will prevent this.
Most of my students are growing up in our city’s roughest housing project.
They qualify for free lunch because their families live below the poverty line. They have very little to call their own, and often they haven't been taught how to care for things. I spend a lot of time, especially at the beginning of the year, teaching students how to take care of classroom property, but they are 6-year-olds, full of energy. Oftentimes, classroom materials, educational games, flashcards, posters, etc. get torn. A laminating machine would definitely help make these materials more durable.
I'm asking for a laminating machine and the accompanying pouches so we can make our limited resources last. Normal wear and tear is to be expected when materials are handled by 16 pairs of inquisitive, excited hands, but we don't have the money to replace materials when they tear or break. We need to make these materials last.
School district budgets are tight.
My students are used to not having enough to go around, but my classroom should be a place where we have enough durable resources to last the whole year. When something breaks or tears, we often don't have the money to replace it. Please help us to conserve our limited resources by helping us purchase a laminating machine.
