Mrs. Perez from Dallas TX is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students what we need to use our new technology! Their little Kindergarten bodies are quite active and we need cases to protect the tablets that were donated to us.

I teach in a neighborhood public school that isn't truly accessed by the neighborhood. The families in homes surrounding our school send their children to charter schools, magnet campuses or private schools elsewhere. My students walk several blocks from the low-income apartment housing and I am their third teacher this school year.
"Ms. New Teacher, will you be our teacher forever?" That's what several of them asked me on my first day in Kindergarten, because it was their 68th day of Kindergarten and they had already been in two other classes.
Because of unexpected growth and a difficult time hiring certified teachers mid-year, my students had a rocky start this school year. Between that and their chaotic lives at home, they are reticent to trust. I'm attempting to change that by growing a relationship with them based on a pattern of stability.
I can hear it now, "Oops, Teacher! It was an accident!" right after the sound of our brand new tablet shattering on the hard tiled floor.
Kindergarten bodies don't stop moving and we need these cases to protect the tablets that were just donated to us by this generous community.
When you're 5 or 6 years old, things fly out of your hands pretty quickly and it's always an "accident." ;) Also, Kindergarteners are quite easily distracted, so we need headphones to truly personalize their learning.
These comfy headphones paired with durable cases will allow the children to access free books on tape from the public library, view the videos our science curriculum recommends showing, and much more. Help us close the opportunity gap between my students and their more privileged peers!
