My students need a Green Screen Kit and Camera for our growing Makerspace. This will allow them to jump in the world of cinematography and photography.
"Onward Trojans". This simple phrase in our school's fight song is always motivating us to keep moving forward each and everyday.
My middle school students are amazing, each and every day!
The students are thirsty for experiences and drink up any new opportunity given to them. Our media center is building a makerspace, and with that, building a new culture of "making" and creating. This new attitude to growing rapidly with the student body. They are much more willing to try new things, without asking for help. They are willing to work through errors they come across within the projects they work through. Watching them grow in the way they inquire and critically think is so inspiring as their media specialist.
My Project
Our District provides excellent opportunities for our students as they enter high school in terms of options to be college and career ready. By having a Green Screen Kit with Camera I will be able to introduce one of these options our middle school students will have access to as they enter high school: cinematography.
Within our makerspace in our Media Center ALL 650+ students will have access and exposure to this equipment. It will ultimately foster a love in the areas of photography, cinematography, special effects, animation, and editing. We can also use the items for our morning News Show and our Photography Club. We will also use the items in the media center to create podcasts. I look forward to providing these opportunities to our students.
By giving our students the opportunity to use this equipment for a wide range of tasks, we will be giving them a new outlook on future careers they may want to get into in their futures.
And with our District supporting such an excellent and professional TV program, this addition to our middle school Makerspace is perfect. It is just another opportunity for my students to be able to inquire and create options for their future selves.
