Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students want change. They live in a high-need community. They see first hand what poverty does to their families and community. Although they may be only in 6th grade, they are more than motivated to give a helping hand.
The problem is that they know they want to change their lives and help their communities, but have no idea how to.
They've been told that education will change their lives, open doors, and help them in the future. It's true, but why must they become adults to become active members in our society? Why not begin feeding them with ideas on how to help themselves and their communities today? All they need is knowledge.
My Project
My most important goal is to get my students to love to learn. After reviewing copies of the Time for Kids, I've realized that this magazine provides excellent information on world problems and how young Americans are helping to fix them. This magazine does a great job in educating the readers so that they can learn, get inspired, and provides interesting topics that are related to various students.
You can help my students learn about our world and the possible changes that they can become a part of.
This can be the beginning of change, and the beginning of empowerment. As William Shakespeare once said, "We know what we are, but know not what we may be."
Edition 5 - 6 with Around the World (Grades 5 and 6) Pricing is valid for orders placed after March 2010. After August 15th of current school year, pricing will remain in effect but TIME For Kids reserves the right to prorate issue quantity and free gifts. Only valid for orders in quantities of 10 or more. Orders for less than 10 subscriptions will NOT be fulfilled.
