Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Oh my goodness! My students are amazing. Each one is so individual and so special in their own way. I have many kiddos with special needs ranging from ADHD to Autism. Many of my kids come from broken homes without many resources. Their view on life is through a survival lens. When they come to school, I want them to feel so loved and valued. Many students don't see the loving embrace that kids need.

Many of my kids are so bright, but are afraid to shine!

I encourage them to try when they want to give up, or they think the work is too hard. Their perseverance is what keeps me motivated. They know that their effort and attitude are the most important things. They want to do well, and I can't wait to push them to another level!

My Project

I am four computers short of having a class set of Chromebooks. Right now, I am unable to let all of my kids play our online math curriculum. Having these Chromebooks in our classroom will allow for my students to access the online textbook, and also their personalized path that I have created for them online. This will aide my students in closing our learning gap that we have. I have students ranging from a 2nd grade to an 8th grade level in the same class.

Using technology allows students to work at their own pace.

We designate times were a couple of students can have interventions, but with these Chromebooks, I will be able to have three more students receiving interventions. This will help increase the time that I am able to spend with other groups, and individual students.
