My Students

My students are awesome, thoughtful, new middle "schoolers," full of mathematical questions from elementary school! They absolutely love a male teacher since most have never had one. They come full of challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! Each day, students are ready to try new ideas and take courageous chances in order to grow both personally and academically. I love giving back to my community!

Many students in my classroom come in saying they have difficulty completing homework, so I would like to be able to record my lessons, put them on my web page, and give students the opportunity to watch them at home with parents for additional support, for both parents and students.

Every child in my classroom wants to learn, although the method and environment in which they learn varies greatly. I incorporate a variety of learning strategies including but not limited to small group work, alternative seating, in addition to learning options to ensure that each student's needs are strategically met. They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners every year!

My Project

The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Being able to take what is taught in the classroom and deliver it to the home as well is outstanding for math purposes! When something goes awry, students know that they can go to my web page and listen to the lesson again, even with parents! It is distracting for many of my students who have focusing issues to hear my 15-minute lesson daily; they may even miss important instruction from either myself or other students. By having a Swivl and an iPad, students will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus on increasing their learning both in school AND at home!

By donating to my project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, but you will also ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.

Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand. Plus, in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
