Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are mostly minority students who come from low-income family backgrounds. They are very active and enjoy coming to school and learning science.

They are always ready to learn new skills and explore new opportunities, but the unavailability of resources makes it hard for them to understand some of the abstract concepts that I teach; therefore, the need to explain the concepts in ways that make them real, captivating and interesting becomes imperative.

My students enjoy completing class projects that involve hands-on experiments, programming, art, and research, which helps them express their understanding of chemistry concepts in their own way by creating new meanings of their discoveries.

My Project

I use different types of instructional strategies, but my challenge has always been the availability of a good working laptop computer. I don't have a good laptop computer to help my students who are audio visual learners. My students love to see some of the concepts that I teach on animations to help them understand and make connection with the material.

When I teach, I try to help my students understand the concepts by showing them some animations that substitute for lab-experiments.

Having a laptop computer will help my students visualize virtual lab-experiments that will make learning more interesting and engaging. I need your help to get the HP - ENVY x360 2-in-1 15.6'Touch-Screen Laptop and a mouse to help my students learn during this difficult times.
