This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are a diverse group of first graders in a Title I school. They are each unique with different learning styles and interests. Despite their differences, they come to school each day with open minds and open hearts and are ready to tackle the day.
Their passion for learning and the desire to do well is what makes them so phenomenal.
My students are thinkers. They persevere and support each other when learning new concepts. They build each other up. They feel comfortable taking risks and making mistakes. These students have built relationships with not only me, but with each other. In our classroom, we are like a family. We laugh together, grow together, and encourage each other to be the best version of themselves that they can be.
My Project
My students face extreme hardships on a daily basis both in and out of the classroom which interferes with their learning. Reading is a struggle for most of them and the barriers that they encounter can be hard to overcome. Despite this, they give me their 110% every single day.
I'm trying to instill in my students a love for reading.
Getting interactive reading materials are the keys to success for my students. These materials will help bring meaning to the words they see in their books. They will be able to work with their classmates to manipulate words while having fun at the same time. These materials will help build those skills needed for early reading success in a fun and engaging way. Won't you consider helping my students become readers one word at a time?
