Our classroom is a safe place for all learners. We work to create acceptance, respect, and engagement throughout the year in our classroom. As a semi-new teacher, I learn each and every year different ways to help students stay engaged in order to learn at their highest level. It is quite challenging to accommodate all my students' needs and interests, so it can be difficult to find things in the classroom to motivate my students. I have found that using a variety of differentiated materials is a huge part of the students staying engaged and getting lost in their learning. I am so excited to meet my ever-so-different and growing class this year and discover their different interests and needs.
Our classroom encourages collaboration between students! I also work diligently to meet all their learning needs, whether that is in small groups or individually! This whiteboard table would allow us to come together and write right on the table. We can work off of one another's work and thinking. We can see the variety of ways students are solving problems or how differently we are thinking about texts. The students can share their ideas with limited materials. With a table they can write on, the students can focus on the task at hand, instead of finding their materials they need or going to sharpen a pencil. They can get right to it!
This table would also serve as a motivation to learn and share!
Students love to write on tables! It's not the norm! They would be excited to share their work and see what others have to offer! They can learn from each other.
