My students need updated texts for Social Studies. During our 3rd trimester, we cover government and changes in voting. This book covers the information and vocabulary and is easy to understand.

My Students

My students are very enthusiastic about learning. I have students in my class who are on IEPs, and also students who are English Language Learners. Work is differentiated as needed, but all of my students work hard, and all are pushed to do their personal best.

Lincoln School is a school with 95% reduced or free lunch eligibility.

Many of my students come from a single parent home. Despite this, they continue to strive to do their best, and look forward to coming to school each and every day.

My Project

Our Social Studies text books are very outdated. Also, the text is difficult for many of the students to comprehend, especially my struggling readers.

One Vote, Two Votes, I Vote, You Vote is a fun book that covers the voting process and changes that have been made to voting through our Constitution.

It covers standards and vocabulary that must be covered in the 5th grade Social Studies Curriculum.

What student doesn't love Dr. Seuss? These books cover important curriculum with Dr. Seuss characters and book format. Students will read these books in small groups, and complete a book scavenger hunt of questions that relate to the text.
