One Table at a Time!

Help me give my students a dual use table to begin my path to replacing the current, over 30 year old tables, we are using as desks.

My Students

I am lucky to be able to spend my days teaching the most incredible kids. They inspire me and push me to be the best teacher and human being possible. The majority of my students have gone through more hardship and tough times in their short lives than I have experienced in the thirty-seven years I have been teaching. I teach at a Title 1 school where the poverty rate is above 70%. Our school provides free breakfast and lunch for all students. We also have a high transience and homeless rate, yet these little rock stars come to school every day, ready to learn and eager to create.

I strive to provide a classroom that feels homey and is setup to enhance learning for these little sponges.

My students range in ability from a kindergarten level up to a fifth grade level, so I am constantly searching for the best methods, activities, strategies, and research to reach all of my kids. My goal is to light the fire of learning and reading to propel them into a successful life.

My Project

Imagine the popular colors during the 1970's: avocado green, orange, light blue, mustard yellow. Well, our school's cupboards and furniture are still stuck in that era! The majority of my furniture in my classroom is well over thirty years old, unless I have bought it myself, including the built-in cupboards.

My students deserve to have updated furniture, so I need your help to start the updating process by contributing to two new tables that will serve dual purposes in our classroom.

First, each will serve as the desk area for four students. Second, during small groups, they will also serve as the meeting area for those groups. With its whiteboard surface, it will be perfect for word work, predicting, math, and so many other ideas. It will also be nice to not have to cart the whiteboards around that we use for small group, (which are also ancient). Please consider helping us to update our classroom.
