Practice makes perfect. My students need the opportunity to practice fluency skills in both reading and math. Fluency is the key to success in comprehension and higher level mathematical problem solving.
My fantastic 5th graders are eager to become more fluent readers and mathematicians.
I want my students to all be on or above grade level with their reading fluency. In order to become fluent readers they need to have good reading materials and opportunity to practice reading fluency and math facts daily. With your help, they can do it on an iPad!
My Project
I teach in a low income school where about 90% of our students are on the free and reduced lunch program. My students are eager to learn despite hard circumstances they face in their everyday lives. Our school provides a loving, safe and consistent place for them. They love the use of technology in our classroom and it really motivates them.
We are starting to do rotations in our class so that I can meet with students in a small group setting as well as individually. The iPad will give students a chance to work on their reading and math fluency while waiting for me to rotate through the other twenty-nine people before getting to them.
Your donations would make it possible for my students to fully rotate through all the components of the Daily 5 and Daily 3 if we had enough iPads for each person in a small group.
