Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach an amazing, curious, and energetic group of K-5 students. They look forward to learning the language, the culture, and being part of our big Spanish familia. As a former ELLs (English Language Learners) student, I remember how intimidating a new language and environment can be, so I decided to establish routines and activities at the beginning of the class to increase students' confidence and comfort level. I value what my learners have to say.
A classroom rug will bring our Spanish class familia closer while building a sense of community.
Your generous donation will give my students a place where they can share how they are feeling or anything else they want to share with their classmates. Another important use of the rug would be to review our calendar and activities for the month, creating another opportunity for students to share birthdays, celebrations, and everyday activities. It doesn't matter if they share it in English, Spanish, or both languages; my goal is to create an environment where students have the opportunity to share their experiences, hobbies, similarities, and differences while learning about each other.
Moreover, this rug is filled with colors which is perfect for learning colors in Spanish, numbers and also makes grouping easier. Please, help this Elementary Resource Spanish teacher to give my students a cozy classroom to call home.
