Our school on the outskirts of large metropolitan area. My students are an amazing group of fourth and fifth graders from a low income, urban area. My students face some unique challenges because of their situations, and I want to provide them with the supplies and experiences necessary for them to be successful in school and the greater community.
Our district has some very lofty goals that are achievable if students are just given the space, the time, and the materials.

My Project
Our school laptops are very old and getting older by the minute. Luckily, a new teacher at our school turned me on to the possibilities with DonorsChoose.org. My students are thrilled to have access to computers at any time of the day. So far we have 7 Chromebooks. My aim is to have one per student.
Since I have a class of 4th and 5th graders together, it is so helpful to have computers available.
when I am working with the 4th graders, the 5th graders can go online to access a math program or reading program. Students can do research at any time of day and don't have to wait for our scheduled computer cart time.
