One Laptop for Engaging Lessons

Help me give my students interactive lessons with a laptop computer to create and present engaging content. One laptop helps 124 students in grades 7-12.

My Students

My Junior & Senior High students are hard-working kids from a small agriculturally-based town in SE. South Dakota. Because of our rural location, our internet service is spotty and unreliable in the country.

Some of my students have little connectivity to the internet through a computer at home.

I accommodate this by designing my classes to allow assignment completion during class time. I am concerned about equity in access to internet and resources. My students study computer science and programming, software applications and digital citizenship.

My Project

My Computer and Business students create and then present interactive original creations to each other. Their presentations feature elements including video segments, photos, and PowerPoint delivered through interactive web-based tools like Nearpod and PearDeck. Working with media takes some RAM.

It would make a real difference for my students every day if they could have one dedicated laptop to connect wirelessly to their classroom Promethean SmartBoard.

Because they would use this laptop which is much more powerful than their school-issued Chromebooks, students would have exposure to higher capability powerful computers. These computers will level the playing field and help them dream big. The accounting students would think a 10-key number pad on the keyboard would be dreamy! Please consider giving my students a laptop by funding this laptop. Thanks for your consideration and generosity!
