Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Aristotle says "Those who know, do. Those that understand, teach." Since I am the one who teach the concepts, am I the one who understands them. Not anymore ...
I teach in a district charter school where more than half of diverse population is economically disadvantaged.
This doesn't stop us from being a National Blue Ribbon School which provides a challenging advanced curriculum to all its students. Teachers at my school work very hard to not only provide high quality instruction but also to build strong bonds with each and every child. In return, my students are respectful, hard working and appreciative children who tries very hard to do well in spite of the challenges they face early in life.
My Project
With this i-pad mini, my students will be creating instructional videos for their class mates and share them via our Edmodo group. The I-pad mini will be one of the stations students take turns to work at as a group. They will investigate a certain concept, determine how to teach it to their peers and create videos with one of the very easy to use apps of i-pad mini.
Learning happens the best when the learner is actively involved in the process.
What can actually be more involvement than teaching it to someone else? Help my students to become experts at the concepts they teach to each other with this i-pad mini. The process of creating instructional videos will help them to understand the concepts at higher levels and become better mathematicians.
