My students enter the classroom ready to learn, discover, and explore. My students are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. Books are so important to my students and are truly valued. My students love to gather at the carpet area and enjoy exemplar literature read aloud. This is also my favorite part of the day!
During these read alouds my students are also learning a new skill or practicing something previously learned.
My students are engaged and eager to learn new things through read alouds.
The carpet area can also be used to teach new math skills and review old ones.
My Project
When meeting at the carpet area in our classroom, my students are enjoying authentic literature which they enjoy. These books are chosen to teach a specific skill needed to be successful in third grade. When reading these books there are many teaching points that need to be made. Having an easel in this area would really help keep our carpet time focused and organized so every student is learning.
This easel will also be a great tool for my students to use during partner work and station time.
Being able to use chart paper, magnets, and dry erase markers will give my students varying opportunities to learn.
