At our elementary, students put smiles on our faces each and every day! They are eager learners from a small town community. In a K-6 building, some of our students are ravenous, confident readers. However, some students may still be reluctant—having limited access to books at home, or maybe they just haven’t found the right book yet! It is our job to think outside the box in an attempt to create engaged, lifelong readers.
“One Book, One School” is a magical experience where every student, teacher, and staff member in a school building gets a copy of the same book to keep. It’s essentially a month long shared reading experience, at home and at school, with activities to correlate. It sparks discussion, increases parent engagement, and builds community.
Dryden students and families had the wonderful opportunity to experience “One Book, One School” last school year for the very first time.
The feedback was so positive, as many students are still talking about it months later. We just HAVE to bring this engaging experience again to them for March is Reading Month 2022...but we need your help!
