Mrs. Hatcher from Indianapolis IN is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need copies of the Global Read Aloud books in order to read and interact with students across the world.

My students are enthusiastic learners, always trying to make connections. They especially enjoy reading and being able to share their thoughts and ideas with others.
My school is comprised of a very diverse group of learners in a Title I school district in Indianapolis.
We are an International Baccalaureate School focusing on inquiry methodology, helping students become lifelong learners and global citizens. Being able to communicate with others in various parts of the world will be very beneficial and highly engaging for the students.
My students will gain the opportunity to interact with other students across the globe through the Global Read Aloud project. Each year the project selects a book that students read at the same time over a six week period. This year's selections are Amal Unbound for upper elementary, and A Boy Called Bat for early elementary. The main characters in both books face major challenges in life leading to great discussions about kindness and empathy. Classrooms choose ways to make as many global connections as possible. Each year more than one million students from multiple countries participate in this experience.
By participating in this shared reading experience, my students will become global thinkers as they communicate with students from other countries and share unique perspectives.
My students will collaborate with others through the use of Write About, a blogging platform, and Skype. Comprehension skills and writing skills will increase due to the high engagement of this project.
