Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
P.A.A.A.S. is a diverse public school with a large majority of its students on free and reduced lunch and with every child, holding onto a story. Working in an urban district has given me the opportunity to see how special each of my students are. They understand that school is a place for them to learn, to feel safe and to feel loved by a community of teachers, staff members and students who support them. They are motivated and kind. They work hard for what they have and most importantly, what they desire in their future.
My Project
Providing my students with these novels will give them a chance to see the world in multiple views. I have bought books for my students in the past and their faces when they see that their teacher listened to them, is so rewarding. They are reading on their own because someone cares and because they are interested in the content. These books on the list have been a part of theirs for a while now and I know that they will be touched by so many students. I am thankful that they have the chance to discuss literature and stories from people around the world with these novels. My students enjoy reading and discussing and even better, sharing their novels with other students.
