My students love music! I teach music for K through 4th graders who are all eager to learn and create! Last year, I added recorders for the 3rd graders. This was a HUGE success! My upcoming 2nd and 3rd graders deserve this as well. I would like to offer this experience to them this year.
Our school is going into its 3rd year.
We are a Title 1 school in NY. We currently service grades K-4 and will expand next year to 5th grade. My students are all wonderful, eager learners. Specifically my 2-4th graders need to be challenged more! I want to continue to feed their love for music by providing them with as many hands-on experiences as possible.
My Project
Adding recorders to the list of instruments my 3rd graders experienced last year was magical for them! Not only did it help them to hear pitches and learn melodic patterns, but the recorders taught them responsibility and coordination skills. Each student was responsible for his or her own recorder; cleaning it and keeping it safe. Out of 125 students, only 3 lost or damaged their recorders. That speaks volumes to their character. A group of 125 adults wouldn't have that high of a success rate! These students will move on up to 4th grade and continue their recorder lessons.
I know that by having recorders for my upcoming 2nd and 3rd graders, students will feel just as special as their peers in the grade ahead! Having their very own instrument as opposed to sharing with an entire school will add to their self-esteem and love of music. Thank you for your help!
I could not have dreamed about how well the recorders worked out last year.
After seeing the enthusiasm daily of these students, I couldn't imagine not giving that same opportunity to my upcoming students. I am so blessed to have them in my life and I want to bless them with the best! You can help me do this!
