Every morning starts out the same in my classroom. Hugs, smiles, and then some really personal questions. "Did you have dinner last night?" , "Did you get enough sleep?" , "Are these the same clothes you had on yesterday?" , "Do you have running water and electricity still?" , "Was mom home last night?".
Despite what chaos they may be facing at home my students come to school ready to learn with smiles on their faces.
100% of my students, and school, have FREE lunch. My babies come from 1 parent households, bouncing from home to home, even foster care. One student of 18 have access to the internet with a computer at home.
In our class we have identified ESE students with special needs. These students require calm down corners, and special activities as to not get over stimulated.

My Project
My students struggle with grade level reading. They are not confident, and dare I say, I have heard my little people say they "hate" reading (insert sad face here).
Our classroom library lacks the resources that some of my students need to feel successful.
By funding this project you will open up a whole new world for the majority of my students. Instead of being bound to one checked out library book, they will have multiple options - both fiction and non-fiction - at their current reading level using these guided reading collections.
My hopes are that having books that my students can read will help them bring back their confidence, and restore their love for reading.
