My Students
My students are amazing young men in the eighth grade. They attend an all-boys charter school in Baltimore and are working to prepare for high school.
This group of young men is full of amazing potential.
This is my second year working with this group of students. During the time I have gotten to know them well and want to do everything I can to make sure they are prepared for high school.
In addition to working to develop our critical-thinking, comprehension, and writing skills, our big focus this year is to develop a LOVE for reading.
My Project
Effective Independent Reading programs in classrooms can engage readers and help them develop a love of reading. Through exposure to literature and texts that are interesting and accessible to them, students can transform from reluctant readers to life-long readers.
Please help me bring engaging texts to my classroom!
Because our school does not have its own library, my classroom library is the main source of literature for my students. For this reason, I am working to expand my library to meet my students' needs and interests!
Through adding more books to our classroom library and developing ways to better manage and organize our Independent Reading materials, our ability to integrate Independent Reading into our everyday routine will increase exponentially!
