This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
A majority of our students' families here at our school deal with poverty, homelessness, and limited income which unfortunately result in parents not fully being able to provide supplies that the students may need.
My students have a true passion for learning that I admire!
I want to give them the world when it comes to anything that will help us learn about events around us. My job as an educator is to educate them; these Scholastic Magazines would help me do just that!
My Project
These Scholastic News magazines will not only bring knowledge to my students but the colorful photographs will draw them in to want MORE! I would love to draw my students in by allowing them to dive into these current event articles within a small group setting. We would read through the articles slowly, making sure they comprehend what they're reading, and guide them through learning with the use of standards-based questions. Working at a Title I school, we aren't afforded color copies of fun articles. These magazines would add an interesting twist to the black and white articles we read each day.
