Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in a high poverty farming community, have multiple siblings, and are English Language Learners.
If supplies are needed, the local Dollar Store is the one place with anything for the entire town.
It is a blessing if my students enter class with a sharpened pencil, eraser, and paper from day to day.
Despite uncontrollable financial woes, my students are still my children. They are eager, excited learners, and I want to facilitate their learning to the best of my ability.
My Project
In math, we do a lot of Task Cards and/or Scavenger Hunts. Often times, I want to utilize the class set of mini whiteboards that I have for such activities.
I am unable to do so because I do not have any usable dry erase markers and/or erasers.
The dry erase markers and erasers would allow students to work problems out on the whiteboards. The use of whiteboards with dry erase markers and erasers is also very useful for students to work out problems from their seats and show me their answers.
I like to laminate all of my task cards and scavenger hunts so that I can use them over and over. The materials for this project would be of great benefit to all of my students.
