My Students

My kindergartners are thirsty for knowledge and love to read! My goal for my students is to continue to love coming to school and feed their passion for learning! My biggest challenge is not having enough resources to provide in our reading groups.

My students attend a public Montessori school and are in the primary classroom.

At our school, we teach and emphasize many things, one of them primarily being our PEACE education. Students learn about perseverance, empathy, attitude, courage and encouragement. These young students are kind, thoughtful and dedicated learners! Our school community is amazing and the staff and parents are incredibly supportive. My kindergarteners enjoy reading and learning new things and I would be so happy for them to be able to access books at their personal reading level. I just don’t have the classroom funds to purchase a leveled book set.

My Project

Access to a set of leveled books would give students the opportunity to participate in guided reading groups as well as the ability to read independently. Allowing students to choose text at their individual reading levels, builds confidence and independence. The more successful they become at reading, the better their chances are to grow to love reading and learning. These are my goals as a kindergarten teacher, to instill a love of learning in my students.

Developing strong reading skills is critical in kindergarten!

I hope I can give my students invaluable literary skills that they will enjoy their entire lives. Thank-you for your consideration!
