Our city has a large school district with limited funding. The district spreads its resources over forty-four schools. Students, teachers and classrooms are always in need of classroom supplies to help enrich their learning environment. The use of flexible seating in the classroom, even in its simplest form, can go a long way in helping students reach their fullest potential.
Our students, 80% of which live in poverty, are most appreciative and grateful when perfect strangers are willing to help make their classroom the best it can possibly be.

My Project
Imagine collaborating with your peers on a project. First, you need to discuss your ideas then draft an outline and finally, complete a hands-on project or activity. You have all of your materials laid out in front of you and you're ready to get down to work...
Instead of working on a functional, leveled working space- such as a table with chairs- you're forced to reach across four mismatched rickety desks pushed together, frequently catching your supplies as they roll through the cracks between desks and onto the floor.
Unfortunately, this is the reality for students in many schools across our district. Providing my students with round tables and individual chairs will allow them to have collaborative works stations where they can comfortably work with their peers to complete project-based learning activities. My students deserve seating that will allow them to move about freely as they work with their classmates to complete tasks such as station activities, projects, small group discussions and more!
Funding this project is just the first step in giving all of my students access to different learning stations throughout the classroom. Why shouldn't students be able to learn in a classroom that provides the appropriate seating for all of their needs?
