Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
For the 2018-2019 season, I will be in my fourth year of coaching our school's coed volleyball team. I suppose once an athlete, now a coach would describe me best.
Middle school sports are such a great time for students to learn skills, strategies, competitive play and good sportsmanship.
The young athletes at my school are beginning to excel in all these areas. This year I noticed that the students were becoming more competitive during games, often diving for the ball. I would love to have sets of knee pads for my team to wear, as well as some additional practice equipment, and an equipment bag, which will help them to continue on the path of a lifelong love of sports.
My Project
My project will support the efforts of my middle school volleyball team. The volleyball articles will allow students on our middle school volleyball team to more effectively participate in volleyball on game days by now having the knee pads I am requesting, which will allow them to safely dive for balls and play more competitively on the court. Because our students are from low-income households, we cannot ask the parents to pay for these needed items.
By donating to this project, our students will also look like a cohesive team with matching uniforms and team equipment bags, which will in turn boost self-confidence on and off the court!
